The University of California, Irvine has announced a significant $11 million grant from the Clemons Family Foundation, bolstering support for UC Irvine Health. The majority of the grant, totaling $9 million, will be allocated to complete the construction of the Falling Leaves Foundation Medical Innovation Building. The remaining $2 million will be divided between funding cancer research at the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and supporting the completion of its new outdoor patient infusion area, which will be named in honor of the Clemons family.

Marie Clemons, representing the Clemons Family Foundation, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We are on the cusp of a new era of technological innovation with the ability to rapidly advance medicine, clinical trials, and care.” She added, “My family and I have seen firsthand the inspiring progress being made by UC Irvine researchers and physicians in vision science and cancer.”

Highlighting the significance of supporting cancer research, Clemons said, “We are excited to see how new discoveries will transform health care for the Orange County community. Cancer touches so many individuals, and we are proud to support the university’s growth, cutting-edge research, and expert care in this critical area.
