Crises arises as over 40,000 opposition members defect to APC

More than 40,000 card-carrying members from different opposition parties were welcomed into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday by Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.

The Governor welcomed the new members with open arms after the mass defection at the State Government House.

“Your decision to join our progressive movement strengthens our resolve to build a greater Katsina state,” said Governor Radda, who conveyed his thanks.

He continued by reaffirming his dedication to inclusive leadership and giving officials at all levels instructions to guarantee the defectors’ complete participation in APC operations.

Former State House of Assembly Deputy Speakers Hassan Suleiman Rawayau and Yakubu Idris Dan Chafa led the group of defectors.

Along with a number of former state lawmakers and chairmen of local governments, other notable individuals who defected were Isah Hamisu Dandume of the All Peoples Party (APP) and Musa Gafai, Chairman of Gafai Communication and a former PDP candidate for the Federal House of Representatives.

Ya’u Umar Gwajo Gwajo, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, clarified in a previous briefing that the defectors were drawn from a wide range of political groups.
