Cyberbullying: VeryDarkMan regains freedom after 3 weeks in detention

Martin Otse, the controversial social media critic known as VeryDarkMan, who was accused of cyberbullying, has been granted bail by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

On Monday, he was released from police prison after fulfilling his bail conditions.

However, specific bail requirements are currently not available to the public.

On May 22, Otse was arraigned at the Federal High Court in Abuja, where he was charged with cyberstalking.

The Nigerian police prosecuted the defendant for making derogatory remarks against Iyabo Ojo and Tonto Dikeh and for uploading inflammatory films to his Instagram account.

According to one of the allegations, Otse uploaded films to his Instagram account with content that was described as “grossly offensive, pornographic, or of an indecent, obscene, or menacing character.”

The defendant allegedly claimed in a different accusation that she and Iyabo Ojo were engaging in an inappropriate sexual relationship.

The defendant further stated, according to the police, that Tonto Dikeh was the author of the gossip blog Gistlover.

However, the social media critic refuted every accusation made against him.

His legal team asked that he be kept in police custody, notwithstanding the prosecution’s plea for his stay in prison.

He was moved to the National Cybercrime Centre after the judge granted their request.

ZINGTIE recalls that on March 31 of last year, VeryDarkMan was set free following his initial arrest on March 22.

His attorney revealed that Tonto Dikeh, Iyabo Ojo, and Samklef had filed complaints, which led to the arrest.
