Dad ‘shoots dead’ mum and grandma while his eight-year-old son is in the house

A guy has been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing his son’s mother and grandmother while the child was inside the home. Junior Edwards, 37, is accused of several felonies, including two counts of first-degree murder.

Edwards, from Pennsylvania, is accused of sneaking into the Willingboro Township, New Jersey, home of Catherine Nunez, age 33, and her mother, Marisol Nunez, age 54, and shooting and killing them early on Wednesday, October 30.

After receiving allegations of a burglary in progress, police arrived at the scene just after four in the morning. They discovered Catherine and Marisol Nunez’s dead in an upstairs bedroom after entering the house. At the scene, both women were declared deceased. The local community were stunned by the double homicide, reports The Mirror US.

Prosecutors in Burlington County, New Jersey, have charged Edwards with first-degree home invasion burglary with a firearm, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Before any arrests were announced, Charlee Harris, a friend and neighbour of the deceased, told Philadelphia Fox affiliate WTXF, “Barely sleeping. We can’t sleep cause we just don’t know.”

Glenda Sprauve, the neighbour next door, emphasised her surprise by saying: “I’m still flabbergasted.” I still cannot sleep. I cannot sleep.”

Before being charged with the killings, Edwards was first taken arrested on other counts. According to the authorities, Edwards broke a ground-floor window to enter the property.

Outside the house was a handgun, which was thought to be the murder weapon. Edwards and Catherine Nunez were later found to have had an 8-year-old boy together who was present at the time of the shootings but was unharmed. Both individuals died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to autopsies.
