DangerPoint, an interactive life skills centre based in Talacre, has received a generous donation of £10,000 from North Wales Freemasons. The centre’s mission is to create “resilient children, able to thrive” by providing an inclusive and interactive life skills experience that immerses children in real-life situations in a fun and creative way.
The centre offers a wide range of safety and life skills, including home safety, fire & gas safety, and internet & shop safety. However, increasing transport costs have created a barrier for rural groups across North Wales, making it difficult for some schools to access the centre’s vital services.
The donation from North Wales Freemasons will subsidise entry costs and provide subsidised transport for schools that would not be able to access the centre without support. This will enable 430 children from North Wales to visit the centre and develop essential skills for making positive life choices and managing risky situations effectively.
Julie Ann Tyler, Centre Manager, expressed her gratitude to North Wales Freemasons, saying: “DangerPoint would like to express our sincere appreciation to North Wales Freemasons for their generous donation of £10,000. This significant contribution will provide subsidised entry and transport for 430 children from North Wales to visit our fantastic interactive centre… We are excited about the positive changes this may bring and the lives it will touch.
The donation was presented by John Charles Hoult, Head of North Wales Freemasons, accompanied by Phil James, Chairman of North Wales Freemasons Charity, and other trustees. The £10,000 donation was match-funded by £5,000 from the Masonic Charitable Foundation and £5,000 from North Wales Freemasons Charity.
North Wales Freemasons have been actively involved in charitable work, launching their Festival 2028 Appeal in April 2022 with the aim of raising £2.5m in support of the Masonic Charitable Foundation by July 2028. The organisation has made significant contributions to deserving causes, with Freemasonry contributing £51.7m plus 18.5 million hours of volunteer work in 2023.
