Dele Sobowale reveals the worst mistake Tinubu made

According to reports, newspaper columnist and economist Dr. Dele Sobowale has criticized President Bola Tinubu for assigning an excessive number of his erstwhile Lagos allies to important posts in the Federal Government.

At the Vanguard Conference Hall, Dr. Sobowale stated that this choice was one of Tinubu’s administration’s biggest errors.

He clarified that a large number of the selected individuals had exclusively collaborated with the president while he was Lagos State’s governor.

He cautioned that a person is not necessarily prepared to serve as a federal minister just because they are an excellent commissioner at the state level.

He asserts that greater experience and a deeper comprehension of national concerns are necessary for managing a nation.

He stated that federal positions demand leaders who are aware with the difficulties facing different regions of the country not only Lagos.

Nigeria’s issues are intricate and pervasive, Dr. Sobowale emphasized.

He thinks the current group might not be equipped to handle the country’s security and economic issues.

According to him, it is dangerous to appoint individuals to high government positions solely on the basis of their loyalty or prior state service.

Rather, he suggested that selections be made on the basis of national vision, skill, and experience.

He believes that the Federal Government’s capacity to govern effectively has been undermined by this appointment pattern.

He urged a more diverse and capable group capable of comprehending and resolving Nigeria’s urgent issues.

‘‘Also, he made another cardinal mistake. He packed too many of the Lagos boys who helped him as governor, into the Federal Government.‘‘

‘‘Lagos is not Nigeria, Nigeria is not Lagos. A good commissioner in Lagos State might not be a good minister at the federal level. At the federal level, you need people who have some kind of experience for years. You do not take good commissioners in your state and make them federal ministers,” he said.
