Did Obaseki raise Edo workers’ minimum wage to N70,000? Read the gist

Starting on May 1, 2024, Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki will raise the minimum wage for employees in the state civil service to N70,000.

According to ZINGTIE, Obaseki revealed this during the Labour House’s commissioning on Monday. The Labour House was constructed specifically for the state’s organised labour.

The mansion was named to honour Adams Oshiomhole, a former state governor.

Obaseki declared that his government would raise the minimum salary for workers in the state from N40,000 to N70,000.

Additionally, he pledged to raise employees’ monthly pay to more than N70,000 if the federal government approved a new minimum wage for its workforce.

He stated that the public would be informed about the specifics of the new minimum wage on Wednesday, May 1, at the celebration of Workers Day.
