The daughter of Nigerian music icon 2Baba (Innocent Idibia) and actress Annie Macaulay-Idibia has spoken out against how her parents are portrayed in the media, giving her thoughts on video.
Her statements elicited conflicting reactions on social media, with some admiring her maturity and others criticising her delivery.

In the video, the young child discusses how she perceives her parents, particularly their public image. She continued, “I don’t think of them as my parents, I think of them as people I’m watching on a TV show,” she said, highlighting how she tries to remain neutral when it comes to their portrayal in the media. She explained that while watching their appearances on shows or social media, she separates her personal feelings from what’s presented. “If my mum does something that actually pisses me off on the show, I’m going to be like, ‘Bruh, like Ani, Ani, Ani is doing too much,” emphasising that she treats them just like any other public person.

The teenager went on to express her dissatisfaction with how her family has been portrayed. “I think the way my parents were portrayed anywhere is just so, so wrong,” she said. She added that whenever she tries to defend her family, people dismiss her because of her age. “Your knowledge is based of stuff that you see on fricking Safari and fricking Instagram,” she pointed out referring to how outsiders frequently form impressions based on public images rather than the truth from within the household.

She made it plain that, while she cannot change public opinion, she does know what happens behind closed doors. “They will never actually know the actual true story or the actual true background of anything that has ever happened in my family household,” she said.

The daughter also addressed how her parents were portrayed in the media, claiming that it was not totally truthful. “I feel like what my parents were portrayed wasn’t the best image, and it wasn’t completely accurate,” she said, leaving the conversation open-ended.

Her comments have elicited a variety of reactions. Some social media users admired her maturity. A commenter commented: “At her small age, how she always wants to air her view shows intelligence.” Others, however, were less impressed, doubting her accent and clarity. “She just dey talk randomly,” said one commenter, while another asked, “How old is this girl? She is more mature than her parents.”

Interestingly, many fans appear to have caught up on the subtle undertones in her statements and interpreted them as an oblique way of addressing her mother’s behaviour during the marriage. ““She’s indirectly letting us know that Annie was doing too much,” one commentator wrote.

Despite the diverse views, the general conclusion is that the young girl’s video provides insight into the complications of being a high-profile family member who must navigate public opinion while still protecting family privacy.

As of now, neither 2Baba nor Annie have publicly responded to their daughter’s claims.
