Kampala University’s founder, Professor Badru Kateregga, is devastated to learn that he is not the biological father of one of his three daughters with his 36-year-old wife, Shubaiha Jolly Kateregga.

Currently, the 76-year-old Ugandan entrepreneur and educationist is the vice chancellor of the private institution that he co-founded.

Kateregga has been married to his estranged wife, Shubaiha, for fifteen years. When he left their house in September 2024, claiming he wanted to spend more time with his elder children from a previous relationship, their marital problems started. Additionally, Kateregga said that Shubaiha had beaten him, which is why he left.

Shubaiha filed for court orders after he left, asking her husband to support their three children and pay for their schooling.

Professor Badru Kateregga, the founder of Kampala University, is saddened to discover that he is not the biological father of one of his three kids with Shubaiha Jolly Kateregga, his 36-year-old wife.

The 76-year-old Ugandan educator and businessman is currently the vice chancellor of the private university he helped build.

Shubaiha, Kateregga’s estranged wife, had been his spouse for fifteen years. Their marriage issues began when he moved out of their home in September 2024, saying he wanted to spend more time with his older children from a previous relationship. Kateregga also claimed that he departed because Shubaiha had beaten him.

Following his departure, Shubaiha requested court orders compelling her spouse to provide for their three children and cover their education.

Shubaiha publicly rejected the results, stating they were untrue, when they were read in court. The 36-year-old lady voiced worries that procedural errors or foul play might have affected the outcome.

“I do not trust the accuracy of the results and lack confidence in the integrity of the process through which they were obtained. I have asked my lawyer to appeal,” she stated, as reported by Matooke Republic. She called for a fresh DNA test to be conducted at a reputable, internationally accredited facility in the United States, asserting, “A transparent and professionally handled process will vindicate this position. If I wasn’t sure, I would never have agreed to a DNA test in the first place.”

The couple, who were wed in March 2013 according to Islamic customs, have had a tumultuous relationship in recent years, characterized by accusations of domestic abuse and adultery from both parties. After their long-standing problems were made public, they filed for divorce in order to formally separate.

Professor Kateregga accused Shubaiha of domestic violence at the beginning of their divorce dispute, including purported efforts to poison him. Additionally, he asserted that she was attempting to take over his economic empire, specifically Kampala University.

Shubaiha defended herself by claiming that the professor’s injuries were the result of problems from the post-surgery care she received at International Hospital Kampala. She also charged Kateregga with adultery, saying she had put up with a lot since she was faithful to their marriage.
