Renowned Nigerian music producer, Don Jazzy, has called out a food vendor who attempted to trade a plate of free nkwobi for a performance by his artist, Rema.
In a video that has gone viral on Instagram, Don Jazzy recounted how the vendor offered him the local delicacy and then requested that Rema perform at her upcoming event without charge.
Reflecting on the situation, he issued a public warning, stating, “No one should give me free gift again. I don’t want it.”
Describing the incident as a prime example of why he’s wary of accepting freebies, Don Jazzy humorously questioned the value being placed on Rema’s performance in exchange for just a serving of nkwobi.
“Out of nowhere you give me free nkwobi that I didn’t ask for, which you insisted. I accepted and ate it. Suddenly, you want me to return the favour — you’re asking me to give you Rema?
“How does it even add up? Is the exchange rate for me? Because of nkwobi?”, he asked.
