Ebonyi Govt distributes N2bn to 100 communities for rural development

100 communities have received N2.055 billion in funding from the Ebonyi State Government.

At the Re Meritona Hotel in Abakaliki, Governor Francis Nwifuru formally launched the Ebonyi State Community and Social Development Agency, or EB-CSDA, programme in association with the Ministry of Human Capital Development and Monitoring.

NG-CARES, which is supported by the World Bank, will empower 2,040 persons, according to Nwifuru.

The state-wide micro-project and fund disbursement would benefit 100 qualified communities to the tune of N12.5 million for the development of rural projects, according to the governor, who was represented by Moses Ije-Odunwa, Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly.

The Speaker announced that N180,000 would be awarded to each of the 2,040 labor-intensive public workforce beneficiaries, noting that the decision was in line with the governor’s people’s charter of needs mantra.

James Egwu, the general manager of EB-CSDA, stated that recipients of the empowerment would get N360k in two installments of payment and thanked the state governor for his steadfast support of the development of human capital.

Dr. Leonard Uguru, the Commissioner for Finance, Sunday Nwambam, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter-Party Affairs, and Peter Mbam, the current chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the former state chairman of EBCSDA, were present at the programme.
