Ebonyi PDP replaces Odefa, nominates another as national vice chair, South-East

The party’s Zonal Youth Leader, Goodluck Chidiebere Egwu, has been nominated by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ebonyi State chapter to succeed Mr. Ali Odefa, the expelled National Vice Chairman, South-East.

The Ebonyi PDP tied the nomination of Egwu to Odefa’s expulsion for anti-party activities in a letter to the party’s Acting National Chairman, Alhaji Illiya Damagum, and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara.

Recall how the Oguduokwor Ward in the state’s Onicha Local Government Area had initially suspended Odefa, and how that decision was confirmed by a Federal High Court in Abakaliki?

Following his previous suspension, the Oguduokwor Ward Disciplinary Committee heard the accusations made against Odefa and recommended the expulsion of the former zonal chairman of the party.

The PDP Oguduokwor Ward leadership then declared Odefa’s summary dismissal on December 12, 2024.

In the letter, Ebonyi State PDP leaders overwhelmingly supported Odefa’s replacement.

Former acting national secretary Chief Onwe S. Onwe, 2023 deputy governorship candidate Senator Paulinus Igwe Nwagu, former deputy national youth leader Chief John Igboke, and previous governorship contender Chief Paul Okorie are among the signatures.

Other high-ranking party members include Chief Austin Edeze, a past candidate for governor and the Director General of the 2023 PDP Governorship Campaign Council, as well as all of the PDP’s candidates for the National Assembly and House of Assembly in the general elections of 2023.

The nomination letter for Egwu has been sent to the Acting National Chairman, the National Secretary,  the BoT Chairman, the Chairman PDP Governor’s Forum among others.
