Obasa’s impeachment: ‘He was acting like an emperor’ – APC chieftain

All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Fouad Oki has defended the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa, the speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, arguing that it was necessary to make him responsible for his deeds.

In the midst of Obasa’s impeachment, Oki made this claim on Monday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

According to reports, the Lagos State House of Assembly impeached Obasa, a sixth-term APC member who represents Agege Constituency I, on Monday due to fraud charges.

Mojisola Meranda was chosen to serve as the house’s deputy speaker in the interim.

Accusing Obasa of behaving like an emperor, Oki said that his impeachment was predictable and that the events of the previous three months had marked the end of his rule.

“He saw himself as an emperor. It became very obvious that there was a need for a change in the leadership of the parliament in Lagos.

“If you cast your mind back, you must have seen this coming in the last 18 months.

“Recall the events on the day when the governor presented the 2025 appropriation bill and the leadership of the party was invited to the convention,” he said.
