Former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo has backed Alex Iwobi to surpass 130 appearances for Nigeria.

Iwobi recently became only the fourth Nigerian footballer to reach the 100-cap milestone for the national team.

The Fulham midfielder reached the landmark during Nigeria’s international friendly against Portugal in June.

His achievement placed him alongside Yobo, Vincent Enyeama and Ahmed Musa as the only Nigerian players to have earned at least 100 international caps.

Musa currently holds the record for the highest number of appearances for the Super Eagles, with 110 caps.

“I wouldn’t be surprised to see Alex getting to 130 or 130-plus because he’s still very active,” Yobo, who was Nigeria’s first centurion, told ESPN.

“He’s still performing at the highest level. You always pray and hope you don’t get injured because these things can derail you.”
