More exhibits connected to the recent attack on residents of the Amegu Nkalaha community in the state’s Ishielu Local Government Area have been found, according to the Ebonyi State Police Command.
SP Joshua Ukandu, the command’s spokesperson, provided journalists in Abakaliki with a statement that included this information on Friday.
According to Ukandu, the command’s agents, working with Nigerian Army troops, acted on credible intelligence to target hoodlum camps in Amegu and Umulesha villages, both in the Nkalaha community, in keeping with the Commissioner of Police’s (CP Adaku Uche-Anya) pledge to eradicate criminal elements from Ebonyi State.
He said the thugs opened fire when they saw the operators. But the courageous agents confronted them and used superior firepower to overwhelm them.
He insisted that one of the suspects was taken into custody during the operation, while the others ran into the jungle.
The operatives also destroyed the hoodlums’ shrines and camps in both communities, recovering two Dane weapons, a cell phone, and a motorcycle in the process.
The command is committed to its mission and will keep pursuing the attackers to bring them to justice, the statement said.
“Furthermore, we urge residents of Ebonyi State to remain vigilant and support the command by reporting any suspicious activity to the command.”
