Afrobeat musician Davido got into a contentious argument on X about politics with Jubril Gawat, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Senior Special Assistant on New Media.
When Davido called the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, “the most dangerous institution in Nigeria,” everything began.
The artist made the claim on Saturday in the wake of the turmoil surrounding Edo State’s ongoing gubernatorial election.
Davido’s assertion was rejected by APC member Gawat, who responded negatively to the singer.
He wrote, “This tweet means ONLY one thing.”
Davido, a fervent supporter of Edo’s PDP candidate Asue Ighodalo, responded by writing: “U go dey here dey tweet nonsense but any time I’m around your principal, nah you go first carry phone with flash like okirika dey blind person eye.”
In retaliation, Gawat posted a video showing Davido calling his employer, Governor Sanwo-Olu, “the real 001” and cheering him during his wedding.
