Edo Court Delivers Major Verdict As Kidnap Case Takes Dramatic Turn

The Edo State Special Criminal Court, presided over by Justice Terry Momodu Aigbona, has sentenced four persons convicted of kidnapping to death by hanging.

Justice Aigbona delivered the death sentences on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, in Benin City.

The judge, who was visibly emotional and in tears while delivering the judgment, found the gang leader of the kidnapping syndicate, Isaac Marvelous, guilty on all 11 counts and sentenced him accordingly.

Justice Aigbona ruled that the convicts should be hanged to death or executed by lethal injection.

The other convicted suspects are Gift Raphael, Wisdom Michael and Rufus Michael.

The court also imposed various terms of imprisonment on the suspects, while ordering that the firearms recovered from them and tendered as exhibits be handed over to the Federal Government.
