Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has argued that successful people would not want to spend their retirement years in Nigeria.

The musician, whose birth name is Emeka Akumefule, made the statement during an interview on The Zeze Millz Show, where he described life in Nigeria as “hectic” and noted that travelling to other countries had exposed the gap between Nigeria and where it ought to be.

“Nigeria is hectic, but it is still home. When you go to other countries, you will realise how far we are from where we should be,” he said.

Discussing his expectations for life after retirement, the rapper said he found it difficult to believe that successful individuals would choose to remain in Nigeria after ending their working careers.

“I don’t think that there is any successful person who wants to live in Nigeria after retirement. Maybe there are some people,” he said.

Blaqbonez also disclosed that his ideal retirement would involve living on an expansive ranch and raising animals, explaining that he did not associate such a lifestyle with Nigeria.
