An contestant for Ovia Federal Constituency seat at the National Assembly, Hon. Charity Uyimwen Amayaenvbo, has stated he lost his position as executive director of the state Internal Revenue Service (IRS), over his commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Amayaenvbo who told his ordeal to journalists in Benin City during the week revealed that he was stripped of his job over his refusal to desert the APC, with Mr. Godwin Obaseki who was the state governor at the time, to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2020.
He noted: “I was earning well as ED of IRS in Edo state at the time, but my driving force was not monetary. I therefore adhered to my principle, because I am not I didn’t see any reason to leave the APC.
“Moreso, I am not a normadic politician that keeps on moving back and forth. And ever since, I have been a dominant player in APC. It is in my DNA,” he added.
The candidate who is a former regional manager of a commercial bank attributed his choice to enter the election to his desire to impact members of his constituency’s life.
Ther Ovia Federal Constituency seat became vacant following the election of the former incumbent, Hon. Dennis Idahosa as the deputy governor of Edo state.
All candidates for the constituency are highly competent, Amayaenvbo continued, but he encouraged the party to honour his loyalty by giving him its ticket for the National Assembly bye-election.
