Eid-el-Fitr: FG makes additional announcement in favour of all Muslims

The federal government has approved Thursday as an extra public holiday to commemorate Eid-El-Fitr this year.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, made this announcement in a statement on Tuesday.

“The Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, while congratulating the muslim Ummah for a successful completion of a month of spiritual rejuvenation, reiterates President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s (GCFR) firm commitment to providing a safe and prosperous Nigeria for all to thrive,” the statement added.

The government had initially scheduled the celebration of Eid-El-Fitr for Tuesday and Wednesday. StilMonday’sy’s lack of visibility of the crescent moon forced the government to postpone the holiday.

ZINGTIE recalls that because the crescent moon was not visible, Saudi Arabia and the Sultan of SokotSa’ad’ad Abubakar declared Wednesday, April 10, to be Eid el-Fitr.
