The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, has urged political office holders to prioritize defending the underprivileged, promoting justice, and maintaining ethical standards in governance.
He made this appeal on Sunday while speaking on the topic Leadership in a Changing World during a lecture held at the Pentecost Arena of the Gospel Faith Mission International (GOFAMINT) in Ado Ekiti.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Babajide Agbeyo, the Speaker emphasized that authentic leadership requires “competencies, integrity and compassionate captaincy within the framework of national service.”
He encouraged individuals with political ambitions to conduct honest self-assessments before stepping into leadership roles.
“Before entering or remaining in government service, clarify your non-negotiables. Prayerfully and scripturally develop a robust habit that will assist you in making informed policy judgments. Build wise counsel networks and be transparent and accountable,” the Speaker advised.
As both a lawmaker and a pastor, Aribasoye highlighted the importance of selfless leadership, urging Christians in politics to lead by example by upholding the truth, rejecting corrupt practices, safeguarding freedom of religion, and serving all citizens impartially, regardless of faith.
