Malam Nasir El-Rufai, the incumbent governor’s estranged godfather and former governor of Kaduna State, did not attend the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) mega rally in Kafanchan, Kaduna South Senatorial District.

A considerable number of people attended the well-publicized demonstration, which reportedly included over 22 famous decampees from opposing political parties.

Additionally, Shehu Sani, a former senator and human rights advocate who served in the 8th National Assembly as the representative for Kaduna Central Senatorial District, did not attend the demonstration that the APC had previously said would be among the largest in Kaduna State’s political history.

In addition to being missing, Senator Lawal Adamu Usman of the 10th Senate, who represents Kaduna Central Senatorial District, derided the event as a “rented crowd,” which Governor Uba Sani embarked on as a face saving for the lack of support by the people.

The lawmaker asked the governor to hold an election within the state to gauge his popularity, arguing that the supporters who attended the event on Friday were not natural.

On Saturday, Senator Lawal Adamu Usman posted the following on his Facebook wall: “APC is like Papalolo in Kaduna State. If you truly knew you had the support of your rented crowd, why didn’t you allow the conduct of election in at least one ward within the State.

“Even the governor could not cast his vote at his polling station during the time”.

Ibrahim Musa, the governor of Kaduna State’s spokesperson, said in a statement obtained by DAILY POST on Saturday that political heavyweights from the three senatorial districts of Kaduna came out in force to reaffirm their faith in the administration led by Senator Uba Sani.

According to the statement, current and past federal lawmakers, state House of Assembly members, former council chairs, state party chairpersons, and flag bearers of opposition parties were among those who defected to the ruling party.
