Emir Sanusi: ‘Kano is boiling’ – Protesters storm NASS, Presidential Villa [PHOTOS]

Calling on President Bola Tinubu to step in and resolve the ongoing Kano Emirate conflict, demonstrators attacked the Presidential Villa and the National Assembly Complex in Abuja on Friday.

The demonstrators expressed their concerns about the worsening situation in the ancient city by peacefully marching while holding posters and banners with various phrases, such as “Kano is boiling.”

They pleaded with Tinubu to employ his good offices to end the issue and guarantee the return of calm and peace to the state.

According to ZINGTIE, Muhammadu Sanusi II was reinstituted as the Emir of Kano on Thursday after Governor Abba Yusuf disbanded the five emirates.

The governor signed the Kano State Emirate Council (Repeal) Bill 2024 into law, prompting the occurrence.

Under the banner of the Concerned Patriots of Nigeria, demonstrators expressed their concerns about the ramifications of the governor’s action. They said that by dissolving the traditional council, Governor Yusuf had abused his position of authority.

Abdullahi Muhammed Saleh, the group’s coordinator, claimed that since taking office in May 2023, the governor has implemented measures that have caused anxiety in the state.

He said, “This stunt of sacking five emirs to install his acolyte was achieved by manipulating the Kano State House of Assembly, which he had successfully turned into a rubber stamp for endorsing his illegal acts.

“He has eroded the autonomy guaranteed by the separation of powers as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

“It is inconceivable that any right-thinking person will descend low to the point of manipulating the traditional institution for political gimmicks.

“The Kano governor has thus proven himself to be the anti-traditional institution leader.”

“The governor’s choice of actions flies in the face of reason and has no place in a sane and civilised society. We urge Governor Yusuf to retrace his steps and stop further undermining the peace of Kano state and , by implication, the peace in Nigeria.”

  • Unfortunately those who are protesting does not know the history of the emirs. The background of the emirs are not credible. Their forefathers are marauders (highway robbers in the desert). Utman Da Fodio hired them to fight jihad when the Hausas owner of Northern Nigeria refused him entry into Nigeria. He hired the criminals from the desert to fight along with him. After the jihad he paid them with Emirship.

The history of emirship is not credible and respectful. The office of emirship is associated to criminality.
