Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has officially announced that he will be leaving the club at the end of the current season.
The England international is now poised to make a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
“This is easily the hardest decision I’ve ever made in my life,” he shared in a message posted to social media on Monday.
Alexander-Arnold departs Anfield as a free agent, bringing an end to his time with the club where he rose through the youth ranks to become a first-team regular.
Over the course of his career at Liverpool, he made 352 appearances and was instrumental in securing two Premier League titles, including the current season’s triumph.
He also played a key role in the club’s 2019 Champions League victory, as well as wins in the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup the same year. His domestic trophy haul includes two Carabao Cups, an FA Cup, and a Community Shield.
At 26, he was one of three senior players whose contracts were set to expire this summer. While Liverpool managed to extend deals for Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold will leave on a free transfer.
