According to Paul Scholes, a legend of Manchester United, Arsenal ought to have acquired Alexander Isak or Jhon Duran during the January transfer window.
Scholes believes that the Arsenal captain will improve with either of the two strikers.
Over the last four seasons, Odegaard has been among Arsenal’s most reliable players.
On Sunday, Arsenal defeated Manchester City 5-1 in the Premier League, and the 26-year-old Norway international scored one goal.
“Imagine him with a centre forward, though. With a proper centre forward,” Scholes said on The Overlap when discussing Odegaard’s form at Arsenal.
“Martin Odegaard is a brilliant player, he can put a ball anywhere he wants. He hasn’t got that in front of him, a No. 10 needs that in front of him.
“I don’t think Kai Havertz is that type of player, even though he might make the odd run here and there.
“You are thinking Isak or Duran, the lad from Villa, if he had that in front of him, it makes him become a better player as well because he is move involved with goals.”
Duran left Aston Villa to join Al Nassr in the winter, while Isak remained at Newcastle United despite linked with Arsenal and Chelsea.
