EPL: Peter Schmeichel names current best goalkeeper in Premier League

Peter Schmeichel, the legendary custodian for Manchester United, believes Ederson is the finest player in his position in the Premier League right now.

He did concede, though, that David Raya of Arsenal is not far behind.

Schmeichel won five Premier League titles with United and later played for Aston Villa and Manchester City.

Schmeichel feels Ederson is the best custodian in the English top division right now, even better than Alisson Becker of Liverpool, who the Dane thinks has fallen behind Raya due to Arsenal’s recent play.

“Ederson is fantastic in terms of making big saves and 1v1 situations,” Schmeichel said on the Stick to Football podcast with Sky Bet.

“Alisson struggles a bit with his feet. There are a few mistakes that he would make that you don’t see from Ederson. That’s the only thing [between them].

“Ederson is the best keeper in the Premier League. David Raya is coming close now too. He has really impressed me.”
