EPL: Van der Sar criticizes Arsenal’s Raya, names his favorite current goalkeepers

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has taken a swipe at Arsenal’s David Raya while listing some of his favourite goalkeepers currently playing in the Premier League.

Among those he praised were Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen, whom he described as a standout to watch, as well as Liverpool’s Alisson Becker and Manchester City’s Ederson.

Asked to name his favourite current goalkeepers in the Premier League, Van der Sar told Optus Sport: “I like Alisson and Ederson, both of them.

“But I think they are a little too much injured at the moment. They are not consistent.

“I like Bart Verbruggen. He is a young Dutch goalkeeper who is doing really well.”

He added, “I expect a little bit more for Raya at Arsenal.

“I think he has to step up his game a little bit more.

“He has all the attributes and the qualities but you have to be more decisive.”

Meanwhile, Verbruggen has been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer transfer window.
