Hajia Halima Yunusa Kajuru, the former North-West Zonal Women Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has officially stepped down from the party.

In a letter dated August 29, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman in Kajuru, Kaduna State, Halima announced her immediate resignation. A copy of her party membership card was included in the letter to confirm her decision.

“I wish to notify the Party Chairman of my decision to resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party with immediate effect,” she wrote.

Reflecting on her time in the party, Halima highlighted that she had served in various roles, most notably as the North-West Zonal Women Leader, a position she was elected to in 2019. She stated that she carried out her duties with integrity and dedication, even during times when the party was not in power.

“The Chairman may note that I have had the opportunity of serving the Peoples Democratic Party in different capacity until the last of which I was elected the North-West Zonal Women Leader in 2019. Position I held with dignity and selfless service even at a point where we had no government and have influenced a lot of decisions and mobilized so many members and voters to the party,” she noted.

She also referenced her involvement in the by-elections held on August 16, 2025, which she described as a demonstration of the party’s resilience and influence.

Halima concluded by thanking the party for offering her the platform to serve and contribute over the years.

“I wish to appreciate the party for founding me worthy of such services rendered this far. Accept my esteem regards, please,” the letter concluded.

She, however, failed disclose her next political step.
