Ex-Soldier reveals how he was nearly killed by colleague for killing too many B/Haram insurgents

An unnamed former soldier described how he was almost killed by a colleague for killing too many Boko Haram fighters and accused the Nigerian Army of benefiting from the country’s insurgency.

During a phone-in session on the Nigerian Info Radio program, the former soldier made the accusation.

The former soldier who identified himself as a sniper described his experience to the show’s host in a piece that was posted on X on Tuesday.

He revealed how one of his coworkers intentionally shot him in a purported assassination attempt because he had killed too many terrorists.

“I was in a battalion, and we were fighting Boko Haram. I’m a left-handed person so I’m a sniper. I was one of the best snipers. No moral, nothing, no pay, no means of communication to my family.

“My father thought I was dead. I was fighting and shooting when one of soldiers shot me on my waist. He said in Hausa, kana kachi mutangewa. It means that I kill people too much.

“I was fighting, and they shot a woman and her daughter. I was trying to save her second child. I was running and they shot me Sandra. It took the grace of God for me to survive.

“They shot me on purpose. They said I too dey kill people. They said it in Hausa. It means I kill Boko Haram too much because I was one of the best sniper Sandra. I don’t miss my shot. I’m left-handed.

“No pay Sandra, no morale. It’s just fight! fight! fight!” He said.

After recuperating from the assassination attempt, the former soldier claimed to have resigned.

He also urged an investigation of the Nigerian Army, accusing them of profiting from the nation’s insurgency.

The former military man also stated that he had proof that two of his colleagues had been slain in a similar way.

“I resigned. I wrote a letter, and I resigned. I don’t want to do the job again. There is a lot happening in that army. They need to investigate the Nigerian army. When people are fighting and killing Boko Haram then somebody from nowhere will shoot and kill you because they are gaining from there.

“They shot two of my friends. I will you evidence. They are dead now Sandra. They shoot you and you will go. These people gain. I’m telling you.” He added.
