A middle-aged man identified as Oguda Mujeed Igbayitabu has reportedly died under troubling circumstances while in police custody at the Ikota Police Station.

According to Mujeed’s family, he was allegedly arrested and detained following a minor disagreement with a neighbour.

Reports indicated that the neighbour allegedly facilitated his arrest, which led to his detention by officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

Family sources further alleged that while in custody, Mujeed was subjected to severe torture that reportedly resulted in his death.

The reports also claimed that police officers later moved his body to a mortuary without informing or seeking the consent of his family members.

The incident has generated emotional reactions, especially after reports emerged that Mujeed’s wife is heavily pregnant and expecting their first child together.
