The Jacksonville Symphony has received a significant boost with a $3 million gift from the Terry Family Foundation. The donation will support programming and renovations to the orchestra’s performance space, Jacoby Symphony Hall, with the main level set to be renamed in recognition of the foundation.
The gift brings the total giving by the Terrys and their foundation to $6.3 million. The Terry Family Foundation was established by the late C. Herman and Mary Virginia Terry, who were both dedicated supporters of the arts.
According to Terry Family Foundation president Betsy Cox, “We are happy to carry on and expand my aunt and uncle’s support. Not only did they enjoy attending orchestra concerts, but they also believed that the Jacksonville Symphony was a vital investment in the northeast Florida community—a sentiment still shared by the foundation as we continue their legacy of support.”
The donation will help ensure the long-term financial stability of the Jacksonville Symphony and support the expansion of its Pops Series. Mary Virginia Terry’s long-standing involvement with the Symphony’s Women’s Guild underscores the family’s enduring commitment to the arts organisation.
This generous gift will have a lasting impact on the Jacksonville Symphony, enabling it to continue delivering exceptional music experiences to the community.
