The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has urged the contractor in charge of constructing the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal complex to accelerate work and meet the scheduled completion date of September 2025.

He made this call on Wednesday during an inspection of the project site located in Dakibiyu, within the Jabi District.

According to a statement issued by Rabi’a Musa Umar, Assistant Director of Press in the Office of the Honourable Minister, the site visit is part of a broader assessment of key infrastructure projects ongoing in the FCT.

During the inspection, Wike voiced his dissatisfaction with the current pace of the construction and highlighted the need for faster progress.

He assured the contractor that funding would not be an obstacle in achieving the project’s goals.

When asked by reporters about the feasibility of the current timeline, Wike admitted to having reservations but remained cautiously hopeful.

“I am afraid, very afraid, but the contractor has said we will achieve it,” he stated.

Addressing the contractor’s request for additional financial support, Wike challenged the language used and made it clear that his administration is committed to providing timely financial backing.

“What do you mean by enough funds? Because no funds can be enough. You promised me that this job will be completed by September and I told you that you will be paid latest by next week, and you said, that yes, by September you will handover. So, I don’t want to hear the grammar of this ‘enough’ funds,” the Minister said, making it clear that excuses would not be entertained.

He further criticized the ambiguity of the term “enough funding” and reminded the contractor of the agreed-upon project deadline, stressing that there would be no room for excuses.
