FCT Police Command officers have reported that they have apprehended eight (8) suspected auto theft gang members operating in the Federal Capital Territory and recovered three (8) stolen vehicles.
According to a statement released on April 19th by the command spokesman, SP Josephine Adeh, two of the eight suspects who were arrested are a husband and wife team that specializes in employing master keys to enter the targeted vehicles.
The lady admitted to buying Toyota master keys from the Jumia online marketplace, which her husband then used to steal the target cars, Adah explained.
“On 19th April 2025, following the report of a stolen gold Toyota Corolla (Reg No. ABC 570 FJ) from the Federal Secretariat, operatives of the Command’s Scorpion Squad arrested one Yusuf Yunusa.”
“Further investigation led to the arrest of his wife, Blessing Yusuf, on 25th April in Kwali Area Council. She confessed to purchasing Toyota master keys from the Jumia online marketplace, which her husband used to steal vehicles, while she created distractions to facilitate the crimes.”
Five individuals were also arrested after a Life Camp car buyer reported a suspicious black Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC E-400 that was purportedly stolen from Lekki, Lagos.
