The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, will donate professional kits to 10,000 nurses and midwives across the South-West during her visit to Ondo State on Thursday. This initiative is part of her broader effort to enhance maternal and public healthcare in the country, according to Mrs Seun Osamaye, Special Adviser to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Women Affairs and Mobilisation.
Osamaye announced that the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and his wife, Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, along with other top government officials, are fully prepared to receive the First Lady. “The Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Lucky Aiyedatiwa; his wife, Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa; the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olajide Adelami; and his wife, along with political and governmental leaders across sectors, are fully prepared to receive Her Excellency,” Osamaye stated.
The First Lady’s visit will kick off with the official presentation of professional kits to 10,000 midwives and nurses in the South-West. “The first programme will be the official presentation of professional kits to 10,000 midwives and nurses in the South-West. This gesture aims to strengthen maternal healthcare delivery across the region,” Osamaye said.
In addition to the healthcare initiative, 200 women from Ondo State involved in textile production will receive empowerment support, including materials and resources to grow their businesses. “We have identified several segments of women, particularly those engaged in textile production. Our ongoing empowerment programmes have reached women across diverse sectors,” Osamaye added.
The First Lady’s impactful interventions nationwide were also highlighted, with significant contributions already made to Ondo State through various social initiatives. “These include the educational support programme, which provides financial aid and allowances to students—especially those living with disabilities—as well as cultural and youth empowerment schemes,” Osamaye said.
At least 1,000 beneficiaries have received training and cash grants, and young students in both primary and secondary schools are now part of the Young Farmers’ Club, encouraging early agricultural involvement.
