Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, claims that US military attacks in sections of the North West did not violate Nigeria’s sovereignty or territorial integrity.
Tuggar reiterated this attitude in an interview with CNN on Friday, emphasizing that the operation was completely authorized by the federal government.
The minister stressed that the operation was a joint, collaborative endeavor between Nigeria and the United States, approved at the highest level of government by President Bola Tinubu.
“We collaborated on this attack. It was a collaborative effort between Nigeria and the US, and President Tinubu gave the go-ahead before it took place, and we don’t see it violating our sovereignty or territorial integrity, which is very important,” the minister said.
He reaffirmed that Nigeria’s collaboration with the United States was motivated entirely by the need to combat terrorism and save lives, rather than by foreign pressure or religious beliefs.
The minister further stated that the Federal Government maintains complete control over decisions affecting its territory and security activities.
According to ZINGTIE, US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that US forces had performed devastating strikes against Islamic State terrorists in northeastern Nigeria, and warned further airstrikes if the militants continued to massacre Christians.
In a post on his Truth Social, Trump claimed that the Department of War had completed multiple perfect strikes.
