Former Super Eagles star Taribo West has revealed the pivotal experience that led him to leave his football career behind and fully embrace ministry, according to Footynaija.com.
The ex-defender, known for his time with Inter Milan and other major clubs across France, Italy, England, and Germany, surprised many when he transitioned into pastoral work shortly after hanging up his boots.
Today, he serves as the leader of Shelter In The Storm Miracle Ministries of All Nation, a church located in Lagos, focused on spreading the gospel and offering hope to those in need.
While fans remember him as a bold and tough defender who clinched Olympic gold with Nigeria in 1996 and played in two FIFA World Cup tournaments, Taribo says his decision to become a pastor was influenced by a spiritual experience rather than just personal choice.
As reported by Legit.ng, he recounted a moment that transformed his path.
He described how, during a celebration, a woman approached him to ask for his name.
That same woman, whom he eventually tracked down, told him he would start a church within two years.
Between 1994 and 2005, Taribo West earned 42 international caps, representing Nigeria at the 1998 and 2002 World Cups.
