Anambra State’s First Lady, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, has stressed that no child should die from malnutrition when preventive measures can be taken. She made this assertion during a ceremony launching the measles-rubella vaccination and distributing Nonye’s Healthy Living Pap, a nutritional supplement she initiated.

Mrs. Soludo urged mothers to always strive to give their children food that is rich in nutrients and immunise them as and when due. She described Nonye’s Healthy Living Pap as a balanced meal for malnourished children, adding that it is being distributed free of charge in all health facilities in the state.

“The Healthy Living Pap has proven to be another great intervention that has changed the nutritional history of Anambra State,” Mrs. Soludo said. “I’m happy to describe this one as a solid milestone—one that will be remembered by humanity and time. We wouldn’t have achieved the results without the efforts of our dedicated health workers, who ensured that the product got to the right people.

While expressing joy at the impact of the pap, Mrs. Soludo appealed for more efforts to cover more grounds. “No child should die out of malnutrition in Anambra State when we can do something,” she emphasised. “As a mother, a woman, and a public health advocate, I am particularly moved by the significance of what we’ve all gathered here to identify with.”

Mrs. Soludo called on parents, guardians, carers, community and religious leaders, and other stakeholders to join hands with her to ensure that children are properly fed. On immunisation, she said it is about building trust, spreading awareness, and ensuring that every parent, carer, and community leader understands its importance.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and UNICEF, as well as supervisors of health and nutrition officers in the 21 local government areas of the state. Many mothers present at the ceremony testified that the pap is very nutritious and facilitates the growth of their children.
