Generational Curse: Wigwe’s family replies Apostle Suleman

The family of the late Herbert Wigwe, the Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank Group, has released a statement in response to Apostle Johnson Suleman’s recent claims that the Wigwe family is suffering from a generational curse.

The family dismissed Suleman’s claims as unfounded and possibly detrimental.

They emphasized how crucial it is that religious leaders use caution and refrain from making inflammatory remarks that could exacerbate the suffering of those who are grieving.

A close Wigwe family member disputed Suleman’s assertions and questioned the veracity of his story.

In Apostle Suleman’s sermon, the family member acknowledged the tragic death of Herbert’s older brother, Osita, in a car accident 27 years ago but also clarified that the other person mentioned as Naomi, who died in a car crash involving then-minister Dapo Sarumi in 2000, was actually a distant cousin rather than Herbert’s sibling.

The family begged for caution and understanding from religious leaders and the general public during this period of intense grief, expressing their tremendous sadness over the false narrative being shared in mainstream media and social networking sites.

“In the wake of recent events, the family earnestly seeks the backing and prayers of the Nigerian community, emphasizing the importance for pastors to prioritize providing comfort over engaging in conjecture or baseless assertions that could exacerbate existing distress,” the statement added.

In the tragic flight that crashed near the California–Nevada border, Wigwe, his wife Chizoba, first son Chizi, and former Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Limited, Bimbo Ogunbanjo, all died.

Herbert was committed to philanthropy, nation-building, and supporting the arts, literacy, and creativity of youth.

Above all, his exceptional devotion to the Christian religion and his active participation in the gospel’s dissemination
