Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has disclosed that he met with President Bola Tinubu to formally notify him of his return to office following the lifting of his suspension.
The governor, who was recently reinstated after a six-month period under emergency administration in the state, visited the State House on Monday evening.
Speaking to reporters after the private meeting, Fubara described the engagement as a “father-and-son” conversation focused on charting a peaceful path forward.
He explained that he approached the president for guidance on key issues to help prevent a recurrence of political instability in Rivers State.
He said, “You are aware that the suspension was lifted midnight, 17th and I resumed on the 19th. I’m here to tell Mr President that I’m back and have also resumed my responsibility as Governor of Rivers State.
“It was a father and son discussion, telling him thank you and the areas he should guide me properly, so we don’t have a crisis again.”
