Group condemns genocide, seeks eviction of Fulani immigrants

An advocacy group affiliated with Bokkos Likeminds Association (BLA) has strongly denounced what it describes as ongoing genocide, persistent killings, and the widespread destruction of communities and properties in Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State.

The BLA voiced serious concerns over frequent attacks in the area attributed to suspected Fulani militias and urged the federal and state governments, security agencies, and relevant bodies to intensify efforts to halt the violence.

In a statement signed by the President, Dr. ST Nguwap, and the General Secretary, Engr. Morgan Mangai, the association revealed that these armed assaults have caused hundreds of fatalities, destroyed homes, and forced community members off their farmlands.

Characterizing the violence as systematic and well-coordinated, they warned that the survival of Bokkos residents is at risk, as many have been compelled to abandon their ancestral lands.

The BLA demands the eviction of Fulani settlers lacking ancestral or legal claims to the land, a complete prohibition of open grazing, and the adoption of modern ranching techniques.

Other calls include strict enforcement of immigration laws, stronger border controls, and constitutional recognition of indigenous rights alongside the right to self-defense.

The group also urged the Plateau State Government, the Federal Government, and international partners to take swift action to ensure justice, reform, and security for the people of Bokkos.
