Nigerians have been informed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that the free beer parlour is no longer available.

He advised the populace to put forth a lot of effort, concentrate on agriculture, and exercise patience with the government.

According to Tinubu, the country’s economy is being rebuilt and retooled by his administration, and it should be allowed more time to do so.

Tinubu disclosed this when the Forum of Former Presiding Officers of the National Assembly paid him a visit in Abuja, led by former Senate President Ken Nnamani.

“People say we’re hungry; yes, I understand that. We don’t want to keep the people hungry and angry, but we say be patient— we must work hard. There is no free beer parlour anymore. We’ll retool and rebuild Nigeria’s economy,” said President Tinubu.

The President is making these remarks at a time when Nigerians are struggling financially as a result of the elimination of gasoline subsidies and the floating of the Naira.

Recall that the price of fuel at the pump tripled after the president’s first day in office when the petrol subsidy was removed?

Filling stations in Abuja charge between N950 and N1,100 for a litre of petrol as of Friday.

In addition, the naira hit an all-time low on May 29, 2023, trading at more than N1,500 to a dollar, down from N600 to a dollar due to the decision to unify exchange rate windows, which was also a day one policy.

At the official market, the Naira to Dollar exchange rate as of Friday was N1,544.
