Seven young individuals were detained by the Kano State Hisbah Board on suspicion of indulging in immoral behavior and cross-dressing at a well-known location on Zoo Road in Kano Municipality.
Sheikh Mujahid Aminudeen Abubakar, the board’s deputy commander general, confirmed the detention to Radio Nigeria.
He claimed that all of the suspects, who are all under 23, were apprehended after Hisbah was informed about suspicious activity at the site by a good Samaritan.
He claims that the informant stated that young males would frequently congregate around the joint and that various cars would frequently come to collect them.
According to preliminary findings, the suspects were from the states of Kogi, Bauchi, and Kano.
Sheikh Mujahid added that a young guy and a woman who were discovered together inside a tricycle during the operation were taken into custody by Hisbah agents.
In a different instance, a young woman who had gone missing was found in Sokoto and reunited with her parents.
The board will shut down the establishment for allegedly harboring young people engaged in unethical behavior, he continued.
“The suspects and the operators of the facility will be handed over to the relevant authorities for further actions,” he said.
Sheikh Mujahid asked locals to report any suspicious behavior to the board or other authorities and reaffirmed Hisbah’s commitment to combating social vices in Kano.
