Tori, a young woman from Southampton, has spoken out about her experiences with homelessness and how a local charity, No Limits, helped her get back on her feet. “The patience and the care they had for me when I was so vulnerable—I have never had anything like it in my entire life,” she said.
Tori’s journey with homelessness began at the age of 14, and by 16, she was on the brink of sleeping rough on the streets. However, a council social worker intervened and introduced her to No Limits, a charity that provides advocacy, support networks, shower and laundry facilities, and more.
“I was extremely stressed and anxious during this time of my life—more than anything, I just wanted somewhere to live that was secure,” Tori recalled. Thanks to No Limits, Tori found the stability and care she desperately needed.
Seven years on, Tori has become one of the charity’s youth ambassadors, helping shape services for young people. “My life would look very different if No Limits didn’t exist,” she said. “For someone so young and so vulnerable, they gave me everything.”
James, a project manager at No Limits, highlighted the charity’s vital work. “The daily lives of the people we help are incredibly bleak and dehumanising,” he said. “It’s so much more than living on the street—they haven’t slept, stripped of belongings, nowhere to turn.
No Limits has seen a 20% increase in young people needing help with housing. “For some people, No Limits is their whole support network, and for others, it could be a small part of their story, but it’s something that’s there and consistent for them,” James added.
Thanks to a new partnership between Comic Relief and Omaze, No Limits will receive part of a £1m donation to help tackle homelessness among young people. The funds come from Omaze’s Million Pound House Draw.
As Tori’s story demonstrates, No Limits provides a lifeline for vulnerable young people. With continued support, the charity can help many more individuals like Tori find hope and stability.
