How Nigerians can perform NIN modification, others – NIMC

The National Identity Management Commission has provided instructions to Nigerians on how to make changes to their National Identification Number and access other services through its self-modification portal.

This announcement was made in a statement released on Thursday by the Commission’s spokesperson, Kayode Adegoke.

NIMC advised applicants seeking NIN Data Modification to observe the following guidelines:

• Single Browser and Device Access: Your self-service account is linked specifically to the browser and device used during the initial registration. Access to the account is therefore restricted to that exact browser on the same device.
• NIN Record Modification: To update your NIN details, you must log in through the same browser and device used when setting up your account. Using a different browser or device might cause access problems.
• Cache Clearing Warning: Clearing the browser cache will reset the browser and could lock your account. In such cases, the account will need to be unlinked before access can be restored.
• Unlock Attempt Limit: If your browser and device get locked, you are allowed up to five (5) requests to unlock the account. No additional requests will be accepted after this limit is reached.

The Commission added that, “These are some of the measures put in place by the Commission to safeguard and protect the identity of the users of the self-service modifications portal.

“NIMC urges all users to carefully follow these guidelines to avoid unnecessary disruptions and delays. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated as the Commission continues to safeguard your data and improve service delivery.”
