Hundreds of Atiku supporters defect to APC, pledge allegiance to Tinubu

Hundreds of former Atiku Abubakar support groups from the 19 Northern states officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party, giving the All Progressives Congress (APC) a major political boost.

Ahead of the general elections in 2027, coalition leaders swore loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the defection ceremony at the A-Class Event Centre in Abuja.

The APC welcomes all members equally and rewards hard work, according to Senator Barau I. Jibrin, the Deputy President of the Senate, who called the mass defection a “big catch.”

Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the national chairman of the APC, praised the action and described it as a significant blow to the PDP.

He conveyed his belief that the progressive ideology, internal democracy, and dedication to excellent governance of the ruling party will continue to draw new members.
