Despite the current leadership turmoil, former Senate President Bukola Saraki stated on Friday that he still believes in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Saraki made this revelation following a meeting of the PDP strategy and way ahead committee with Senators Seriake Dickson and Ibrahim Dankwambo, as well as Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State.

Saraki stated that the party’s problems were reviewed during the meeting and that plans to advance the party were decided upon.

The PDP is currently experiencing a leadership crisis as a result of the legitimate occupant of the National Secretary position.

The PDP National Secretary position has been the subject of a dispute between Peter Ude-Okoye and Samuel Anyanwu.

Anyanwu’s departure to run for governor of Imo State, which he lost, was the catalyst for the conflict.

The party’s Southeast Caucus had supported Ude-Okoye as National Secretary while he was overseas.

But after losing the election, Anyanwu came back to take the job, which caused a crisis inside the party.

While the Supreme Court upheld Anyanwu as the legitimate National Secretary of the PDP, the Appeal Court upheld Ude-Okoye as the National Secretary.

However, Saraki posted on X: “I just concluded a meeting in Enugu State with His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah, alongside Senators Seriake Dickson and Ibrahim Dankwambo of the @OfficialPDPNig Strategy and Way Forward Committee.

“We didn’t sidestep the issues. We confronted the fractures in our foundation, asked the hard questions, and began shaping a real, workable plan to move our party forward.

“I believe in the PDP. I believe in what it has stood for and what it can still become, if we’re willing to do the hard, unglamorous work of rebuilding from the inside out.

“The road ahead won’t be easy. It will test us and demand more from each of us. But I leave Enugu more convinced than ever: we have the people, the resolve, and the clarity to rise to the occasion—and to lead again. #PowerToThePeople”
