Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki says he has no regrets about declaring that the governorship race on September 21 is a “do or die” situation.

ZINGTIE remembers that the governor had made the statement not too long ago, which led to harsh criticism, particularly a few days prior from opposition party members.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Obaseki insisted that the election is crucial because, should the All Progressives Congress (APC) win power in the state, the Edo people would be doomed.

He claimed that the opposition party had finalised their preparations to rig the election on Saturday in their favour, but the people of the state would not submit to them.

Additionally, Obaseki stated before the election that he lacks confidence in the police, accuisng them of being biased.

“It’s a do-or-die affair because if they do, we die, the level of impunity, the level of recklessness we see in the opposition party if they take over Edo state, is finished – that is the end.

“If you see the evidence of what they have done, the blatant way they have gone about it. It is like they forget that the police are being funded by taxpayers’ money, Nigerians taxpayers’ money. They should just be a bit more professional and unbiased,” he said.
