‘I dumped my gold in Lagoon’ – Adeboye’s wife reveals

Pastor Foluke Adeboye, the spouse of famous Nigerian cleric Enoch Adeboye, has revealed the significant personal sacrifice she made after dedicating her life to Christ.

A throwback video that has resurfaced and is currently making the rounds online features Folu Adeboye discussing how her lifestyle underwent a dramatic change in the early days of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

She disclosed that prior to her born-again experience, she was deeply passionate about fashion and possessed several gold items, including pieces of jewellery that she had earmarked for her toddler aged under two at the time.

After joining the church where wearing such items was discouraged, she made a courageous choice to completely separate herself from them.

“Every woman loves fashion,” she said. “By the time we became born again, it was a taboo for you to have them.”

Folu stated that instead of selling or keeping the valuables, she discarded all her gold items into the lagoon.

She remembered that a family friend had raised doubts about her decision, proposing that she could have given the items to her mother for sale. However, she turned it down.

“Whatever is not good for me is not good for my mother,” she explained.

Folu disclosed that she had briefly resorted to using copper accessories instead, acknowledging that her expenditure on them at the time was considerable.

She maintains that she has no regrets, despite the magnitude of her sacrifice.

“What would I say I miss? Not much, I have already sold myself,” she added.
