My husband was unfaithful, so I left him, and I became his side chick.

I am a mother of four children.

My husband cheated on me, which led to our divorce.

Yes, the kids and I headed out.

However, I got to work providing them with food, clothing, shelter, paying for their schooling, and covering all of their other bills. I had a terrible time with that, God only knows. I was having a terrible time supporting myself.

My monthly income was insufficient to cover all of the expenses, so I occasionally put off paying the kids’ tuition.

Being a single parent has never been simple. I fought relentlessly to meet the requirements of the four priceless lives that were entrusted to me, frequently living on the verge of financial ruin. My ex-husband’s adultery caused me excruciating agony that was still raw as an open wound.

Then I started to consider my ex-husband’s side chicks and the reasons behind them. Not even the morality crossed my mind. The more I thought about it, though, the more I saw why. Maybe they were also in urgent need of affection and approval. Perhaps they too have children, mouths to feed and lives to lead? I started to see humanity in my ex-husband’s mistresses as I struggled with this.

Still, it didn’t make sense.

When I contact the married man at home, he runs away and yells at me for trying to break up his peaceful relationship with his “wife,” even though I should be able to tell when he is at home. I consider getting hurt. I consider my solaces.

I had a husband, at least, who was mine. He was all mine even though he cheated. I made an effort to learn more about him as he is currently married to a younger woman once more.

He comes to see me and the kids after I made some contacts. He occasionally dumps money. Now it’s the turn of the new wife. I relate to bygone eras. We get together in secret locations. After that, he heads to his house and wife.

These days, I’m seeing two married males. They are both adulterating with their wives. The irony was just too painful. I discovered that I was sustaining a cycle of comfort seeking in relationships with married guys, something I didn’t want to be a part of.

I reevaluate my life.

I’m developing and learning. It’s menopause time for me. My children are too young to be going through this. They deserve better, I’m sure of it. Although their father is now married and has a new family, they still need him in their life. He has moved on. My former spouse has gone on and started a new life with a younger woman, leaving me to pick up the pieces of my broken dreams.

I’m always thinking about my life.

Up until I discovered he was cheating, my husband had been treating us nicely. My father is no longer with me, leaving me to confront the darkness alone. My children, who are innocent and defenceless, need his presence. I’m stuck in this hole, doubting every choice I made and action I took to get here. Why was I required to depart?

Now, where should I go? I’m left wondering where I’m going and looking for a different direction.
