I regret how GEJ was treated – Kila finally opens up

The director of the Commonwealth Institute of Advanced and Professional Studies, Professor Antony Kila, expressed contrition for his previous criticism of former President Goodluck Jonathan in an interview with Arise News.

In addition to admitting that he had previously called Jonathan other derogatory names, Prof. Kila said he regrets the way the former president was handled during his tenure as head of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

At one point during the interview, Kila stated, “because I have been very bad to Jonathan in the past, I am one of those people who regret how he was treated. I say it publicly because I was one of those people who called him different kinds of names. I have a kind of soft spot for him lately, and my instinct is to agree to whatever he says.”

He also stated that “I think the idea of saying that people are defecting to the ruling party means that the ruling party is trying to create a one-party state is a shallow, lazy way of thinking. All parties will be glad for people to join them. Politicians leave political parties because the political parties don’t have binding ideologies.”
